Muneswaram temple: The location where King Rama offered prayers to Lord Shiva following the grave sin known as Brahmahasti. In response, Lord Shiva bestowed his blessings upon King Rama and instructed him to establish and worship four lingams at five different sites to alleviate the associated dosham. This site is recognized as one of the significant destinations for Ramayana tours in Sri Lanka.

Manavari Hindu Temple: The Manavari Temple is recognized as the initial site where Lord Rama established and worshipped the Siva lingam. Currently, this lingam at the Manavari Temple is referred to as Ramalingam, in honor of its installation by Rama. It holds significant importance in the Sri Lanka Ramayana tour.

  • Travel to Sigiriya and explore UNESCO World Heritage Sigiriya Rock Fortress.

Kandy is an enchanting city, recognized as the Hill Capital and the final bastion of the Sinhala Kings. It is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, surrounded by picturesque hills and featuring a serene lake at its core. Notable attractions include the Sacred Tooth Relic Temple and the Royal Botanical Garden.

  • After taking breakfast, travel to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Over 80 elephants can be seen in one location. You will be able to feed them, and you can also watch them bathing.
  • Back to Kandy and visit Royal Botanical Garden.
  • Leisure time in Kandy hotel.
  • In the evening, enjoy cultural shows in Kandy.

  • After taking breakfast, start to travel to Nuwara Eliya.

The Sri Bhaktha Hanuman Temple is thought to be located near the site known as “Ravana Goda,” where Hanuman is believed to have searched for Sita Devi. This temple is recognized as a significant location related to the Ramayana in Sri Lanka.

Divurumpola Temple is the site where Sita underwent the renowned fire trial, Agni Pariksha, to demonstrate her chastity to Lord Rama following her rescue. She emerged unscathed, thereby affirming her innocence and purity. This location is significant as one of the key sites associated with the Ramayana pilgrimage in Sri Lanka.

The Sita Amman Temple is the sole Hindu temple in Sri Lanka dedicated to Princess Sita. It is believed that Sita Devi was held captive at this location by King Ravana.

  • Travel to Kataragama Temple after breakfast.
  • Visit the Ussangoda Ramayana Site, believed to be one of King Ravana’s torched areas and an ancient airport (Ussangoda National Park).
  • Travel to Galle and visit Rumassala Sanjeevani Mountain. Here, parts of the Himalayan herbs brought by Lord Hanuman are said to have fallen.
  • Visit Seenigama Temple in Hikkaduwa, associated with the legendary battle between the Monkey King and King Ravana’s forces.
  • Visit Galle Dutch Fort (UNESCO World Heritage).

The Kataragama Temple is devoted to the deity Skanda.

Ussangoda is recognized as one of the scorched regions. It is thought that during the era of the Ramayana, King Ravana utilized this flat, solid terrain for his journeys aboard the Pushpak Vimana.
